Haiti: COVID-19-related restrictions remain unchanged as of May 7 /update 14
Officials in Haiti maintain restrictions unchanged as of May 7 to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Event
As of May 7, COVID-19-related restrictions remain unchanged. In order to be allowed to enter Haiti, all travelers, regardless of country of origin or transmission risk, must present a negative result from an antigen or polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken within 72 hours before boarding their flights. Passengers who have previously tested positive for COVID-19 and have recovered do not need to present the negative test result, provided they have authorized documentation confirming their recovery.
Commercial passenger flights are operating at airports in Port-au-Prince (PAP) and Cap Haitien (CAP); incoming passengers are subject to body temperature checks on arrival. Travelers showing symptoms of COVID-19 may be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. Trade and passenger traffic across Haiti's land border with the Dominican Republic is continuing; however, the status of the land border is subject to change at short notice for reasons unrelated to COVID-19. Authorities in the Dominican Republic are known to restrict movements at the land border during periods of heightened unrest in Haiti.
As part of the domestic pandemic response, authorities have maintained minimal restrictions since the end of Haiti's state of health emergency in July 2020. However, a longstanding nationwide 00:01-04:00 nightly curfew will remain in effect until further notice, as will requirements that residents wear protective facemasks while in public places and comply with social-distancing standards of 1.5 meters (5 feet) between persons. Gatherings of more than 10 people are not permitted.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
