Pro-Palestinian activists protesting across Jordan May 14; activists proceeding to Israeli border. Increased security, disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Pro-Palestinian demonstrations and marches are ongoing in several areas across Jordan as of May 14. A large number of demonstrators appear to be attempting to gather along the Jordanian-Israel border region, including near King Hussein Bridge/Allenby Crossing. The purpose of the demonstration is to condemn violence against Palestinians throughout Israel and the Palestinian Territories.

Security forces will almost certainly deploy to areas experiencing large gatherings. Localized ground travel disruptions are to be expected near any affected area. Clashes may break out between security forces and protesters if participants ignore police orders or are overly disruptive.

Advice

Avoid the protests and any additional demonstrations that may materialize as a routine security precaution. Heed instructions from security personnel and leave the area at the first sign of a confrontation. Check for transport disruptions and allow additional time for travel in the affected areas May 14.
