Warning

Event

Officials in Maine have issued orders to lift most statewide restrictions effective May 24 due to decreasing levels of COVID-19 infections and an increasing number of residents who are fully vaccinated. Under the new directives, indoor and outdoor businesses will be able to lift all capacity restrictions and will no longer be required to enforce social distancing measures. Additionally, individuals will no longer be required to wear protective facemasks in indoor spaces; however, unvaccinated individuals are encouraged to continue doing so and businesses may continue requiring employees and customers to use facemasks or show proof of vaccination. The use of facemasks will continue to be required in public transportation.

Until May 24, current restrictions will remain in place. Indoor gatherings of up to 50 percent of the venue's capacity and outdoor gatherings of up to 75 percent of the venue's capacity are allowed. All businesses must ensure compliance with social distancing guidelines and provide the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for employees. All individuals aged two or older must wear facemasks in all indoor public spaces. For more details on Maine's guidelines, click here.

Travel Restrictions
Authorities in Maine continue to require unvaccinated travelers entering from outside the US to self-quarantine for seven days upon arrival, and take a COVID-19 test between 3-5 days after entering the state. They may end the quarantine after seven days if the COVID-19 test is negative. Fully vaccinated travelers entering from international destinations must gest tested 3-5 days after arrival, but are not required to quarantine.

Travelers entering from other US states are no longer required to take a COVID-19 test or self-quarantine upon arrival.

Authorities could reimpose or otherwise amend any restrictions with little notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
