Additional protests and clashes are likely in Manbij, Aleppo Governorate, through at least early June following violent clashes between protesters and security forces. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) opened fire on protesters June 1, killing eight individuals and injuring dozens. Demonstrations first broke out the previous day against the SDF's mandatory military conscription. The Manbij Military Council's curfew remains in place through at least 01:00 June 3.
Authorities will almost certainly maintain increased security in Manbij through at least early June. Localized transport and commercial disruptions are likely.
Manbij is approximately 80 km (50 miles) northeast of Aleppo city.
