UK, Ireland: Aer Lingus cancels domestic UK and Ireland flights, June 12
Aer Lingus cancels several domestic UK and Ireland services from June 12 after Stobart Air enters liquidation; flight disruptions likely.
Event
Aer Lingus (EI) has announced that it will stop flights from George Best Belfast Airport (BHD) to several domestic destinations with immediate effect as of June 12. The development comes after EI subsidiary Stobart Air (RE) went into liquidation. Domestic IE flights to Birmingham (BHX), East Midlands (EMA), Edinburgh (EDI), Exeter (EXT), Leeds Bradford (LBA), and Manchester (MAN) have been canceled; IE flights between BHD and London Heathrow (LHR) are unaffected. In addition, RE domestic flights within Ireland have also been canceled. Passengers booked on canceled EI or RE flights have been advised to contact Aer Lingus.
The flight cancellations will likely impact parallel domestic routes, which could prompt a shortage of availability in the coming weeks.
Advice
Contact your airline if booked to travel on canceled Aer Lingus (IE) or Stobart Air (RE) flights to discuss options. Book alternative flights well in advance where possible. Arrive at the airport early to prevent your seat from being allocated to a standby passenger.
