Greenland: Authorities suspend flights at Nuuk Airport as of June 16 due to COVID-19 activity /update 11
Greenland suspends flights at Nuuk Airport as of June 16 due to COVID-19 activity; domestic restrictions remain in effect.
Event
Authorities in Greenland have suspended most flights at Nuuk Airport (GOH) as of June 16 due to a rise in COVID-19 infections in the city. The only flights that are permitted are for individuals traveling from Nuuk to Denmark via Kangerlussuaq with onward travel taking place the same day. This measure will remain in place until at least June 22.
All permitted arrivals to Greenland must complete a personal location form (Sumut form) before departure for Greenland and produce a negative result from a COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken no more than 72 hours before departure for the territory. For the personal location form (Sumut form), click here.
All travelers must self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival, though this period may be ended early. Travelers who have not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 may exit the 14-day quarantine period early following receipt of a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken no sooner than five days after arrival in Greenland. Fully vaccinated arrivals may get tested on the day after arrival in Greenland and exit quarantine if receiving a negative test result, or otherwise self-isolate for the full 14 days. During the self-isolation period, individuals may not participate in private or public gatherings but may shop for essential items, including groceries, if avoiding rush hours and wearing a protective face covering.
Domestic Restrictions
Nonessential businesses are permitted to operate provided they implement strict hygiene and social distancing requirements. Facemasks are mandatory in enclosed public spaces and outdoor public spaces where social distancing of 2 meters (6.5 feet) cannot be maintained.
Any restrictions may be extended or amended with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
