Islamic State (IS) media has claimed responsibility for a rocket attack that targeted the Presidential Palace in central Kabul early July 20. At least three rockets landed near the facility. Reports indicate the rockets were fired from Police District 18 (PD18) in the northeast outskirts of the city. The attack did not cause any casualties or significant damage.

Authorities will almost certainly maintain heightened security measures near the Presidential Palace and in parts of PD18 through at least early July 21. Localized transport disruptions are likely.

Avoid the area as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations near the Presidential Palace and throughout PD18. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
