Flights suspended at Ahmad Shah Baba International Airport (KDH), Kandahar, Afghanistan, Aug. 1 following earlier rocket attack.

Officials have suspended flights at Ahmed Shah Baba International Airport (KGH), Kandahar Province, as of Aug. 1 due to an earlier rocket attack. Three rockets were fired at the airport late July 31; two of the rockets hit the runway. No casualties were reported. While fighting between government forces and the Taliban has been ongoing in outer areas of the city, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Authorities are working to repair the runway and expect to resume flights by late Aug. 1.
Authorities will almost certainly maintain heightened security measures in the area in the coming hours. Flight operation disruptions may persist through Aug. 2.
