Authorities will amend international entry requirements for travelers from the EEA and Switzerland from Oct. 1 as part of regulatory changes following the UK’s departure from the EU. From that date, such arrivals will no longer be able to use national ID cards to enter the UK and will require passports; some categories of traveler will be able to continue to use national ID cards for entry until Dec. 31 2025, Official guidance for entry requirements are available here.

The UK and Ireland form a common travel area independent of the EU and entry regulations concerning Irish citizens will be unaffected. British citizens in possession of a Gibraltar ID card will not need a passport to enter the UK.
