The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will likely maintain a heightened security posture over the coming hours after it conducted airstrikes against militant targets in the Gaza Strip early Aug. 29. The strikes were in response to launches of incendiary balloons from the Gaza Strip. In retaliation to the IDF airstrikes, Gaza-based militants could launch rocket attacks against communities along the Israeli-Gazan border.
Tensions remain heightened between Israeli forces and the Palestinians despite the ceasefire agreement that was signed on May 21. Further militant attacks are possible in the coming days. Precautionary measures such as evacuations are likely in affected areas.
