Aruba: Authorities to restrict international travel from certain locations starting Dec. 1 due to COVID-19 /update 34
Aruba to ban international travel from certain destinations effective Dec. 1, add new restrictions Dec. 4 due to COVID-19.
Event
Authorities in Aruba have issued orders to restrict travel from several locations effective Dec. 1 and impose additional requirements on travelers arriving from other destinations starting Dec. 4 due to COVID-19. Domestic restrictions, however, remain largely the same as those in place during October.
International Travel Restrictions
Travelers arriving from any international destination must purchase health insurance and complete Aruba's digital Embarkation/Disembarkation Card (ED Card) no more than 72 hours and no less than four hours before travel. All travelers aged 12 and older generally must upload a negative result from a molecular COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours and no less than four hours prior to travel.
Some additional restrictions have been imposed on certain countries. Effective Dec. 1, travel from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe is banned. Moreover, effective Dec. 4, multiple countries will be classed as "very high risk", with travelers from those locations being required to have proof of a negative PCR test taken within one day prior to their departure for Aruba. Affected countries include Austria, Barbados, Belgium, Croatia, Dominica, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Togo, and the UK. For more details on travel restrictions, click here.
Individuals aged 12 and older arriving in Aruba without a negative molecular COVID-19 test result will be tested at the airport and must quarantine for up to 24 hours in their accommodations while awaiting the result. This exception, however, is not available for travelers from very high-risk countries.
Authorities encourage inbound travelers to download the Department of Public Health's Aruba Health App before travel. The mobile application contains information on COVID-19-related health procedures and provides expedited results for COVID-19 tests taken in Aruba. Domestic Restrictions
Businesses in the food service and hotel industries must close by 01:00. Casinos may remain open until 02:00. Access to public beaches and public parking lots remains banned 19:00-05:00 nightly. Businesses can continue to operate without specific capacity limits; however, restaurants must limit tables to a maximum of eight people, and bars must limit tables to four people. Gatherings must remain limited to a maximum of eight people. Authorities also permit up to 150 people in nightclubs and indoor sporting venues, while 250 people are allowed at outdoor sporting venues. The use of facemasks remains mandatory in indoor public settings.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on local disease activity.
