Migrant workers to march from Taipei Railway Station to the Ministry of Labor in Taipei, Taiwan, 13:00 Jan. 16. Disruptions likely.

Migrant workers affiliated with the Migrant Empowerment Network in Taiwan (MENT) plan to gather at Taipei Railway Station 12:00 Jan. 16 before marching to the Ministry of Labor in Taipei at 13:00. Protesters will stop at the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) office before arriving at the Ministry of Labor. Participants intend to demand the government allow migrant workers greater freedom to change jobs; migrant workers may only change jobs if their employer agrees or due to circumstances outside their control, such as if their employer dies. Dozens of people will likely participate in the protest.
Security personnel will likely monitor the protest and may try to disperse the gathering if it is disruptive. Localized transport disruptions are likely on the march route. The protest will likely proceed peacefully.
