Officials relax domestic and international entry COVID-19 restrictions in Angola as of Feb. 9.
Event
Authorities have relaxed domestic COVID-19 restrictions as of Feb. 9. Restaurants, cinemas, and theatres are permitted to remain open until 23:59 and operate at 75-percent capacity. Casinos and gaming houses may remain open until 05:00 at 50-percent capacity. Spectators may attend sporting events though must present proof of vaccination and a 50-percent capacity limit must be respected. Public sector employees may return to their offices at 75-percent capacity, while private sector employees can return with no restrictions.
Concerning entry restrictions, authorities announced the reopening of its land border with Namibia and the need to test upon arrival at Luanda's Aeroporto Internacional Quatro de Fevereiro (LAD) for all travelers.
Domestic Measures
Most businesses are allowed to operate with health protocols in place and restrictions on capacity and opening times.
Public and private transport may operate at full capacity.
Gathering restrictions are in force.
Individuals are required to present either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result to enter select places, including public institutions, restaurants, educational establishments, and cultural (cinemas and museums) and sporting spaces.
There is no curfew in place, though the government recommends that individuals stay indoors 00:00-05:00.
Domestic flights are ongoing; a negative serological COVID-19 test obtained 72 hours before travel is required.
Facemasks are required in public areas, including in public transport.
International Measures
Most land borders, except the border with Namibia, remain closed to noncommercial traffic until further notice.
Limited international air travel is ongoing. Travelers coming from certain countries deemed high-risk locations may be prohibited from entering Angola, except for Angolan nationals.
All travelers entering the country must complete a Travel Registration Form (FRV) up to 72 hours before the travel date. To obtain the form, click here.
All travelers entering the country require a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure. Air passengers may be subject to a rapid COVID-19 test immediately on disembarkation.
All travelers arriving at LAD must take an antigen test upon arrival prior to being granted entry into the country.
All international arrivals are required to home quarantine for at least seven days. They can leave quarantine after receiving a discharge certificate from the health authorities which is provided after a negative antigen test. Vaccinated travelers that test negative upon arrival are exempt from quarantine.
All travelers leaving the country must present a negative COVID-19 test taken no longer than 72 hours before departure.
Authorities may amend existing regulations or introduce new restrictions with little notice depending on local and international disease activity in the coming weeks.
