Mauritania: Authorities amend COVID-19 travel protocol as of April 12 /update 33
Mauritania lifts COVID-19-related testing requirement before arrival as of April 12. Domestic measures remain unchanged.
Event
As of April 12, fully vaccinated travelers can enter Mauritania without a pre-arrival negative PCR test result. Other domestic and travel measures remain largely unchanged.
Domestic Measures
Facemasks are mandatory in public spaces, including in markets, cafes, and restaurants, as well as on public transportation. All public gatherings are banned until further notice.
International Travel Restrictions
Fully vaccinated travelers can enter without restrictions. Unvaccinated travelers to Mauritania must present a printed negative result from a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before travel. Travelers exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms could be required to take a PCR test and isolate at their port of entry for 10 days upon arrival. Land borders with Senegal and Mali are reportedly open. Freight travel remains permitted at several border crossings but is subject to enhanced inspections. However, noncommercial overland travel with Morocco remains banned.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
