Clashes between supporters of the Shiv Sena party and pro-Khalistan groups have been reported near the Kali Mata Temple in Patiala, Punjab State, April 29. The violence reportedly broke out as Shiv Sena supporters were holding an anti-Khalistan march. Police attempted to disperse the groups, resulting in further clashes between police and activists. Security personnel have fired tear gas at crowds. Several people have reportedly been injured. Additional civil unrest cannot be ruled out in the coming hours, as groups may organize protests denouncing the violence. Crowds are likely to gather at government buildings, religious sites, public squares, and on major roadways.

Authorities will likely monitor additional gatherings and may try to disperse especially disruptive crowds. Further clashes between rival activists as well as between activists and security forces are possible through at least late April 29.
