Togo: Authorities reopen land borders from May 17 /update 29

Event

Authorities have reopened the country's land borders to passenger traffic from May 17 following a two-year closure to stem the spread of COVID-19. The movement of persons is permitted, providing travelers are fully vaccinated. Other domestic and travel measures remain in place.

Domestic Measures
Sporting, social, and cultural events are permitted; only vaccinated persons may attend. Individuals need to present proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter public buildings and hotels. The mandatory use of facemasks in select public areas and on public transportation remains in effect.

International Travel Restrictions
All travelers arriving in the country must complete a Traveller Declaration Form (TDF) before departure. Fully vaccinated travelers are no longer required to present a negative PCR test upon arrival or when departing from Lome-Tokoin International Airport (Gnassingbe Eyadema International Airport, LFW). Unvaccinated passengers must provide proof of a negative PCR test taken no more than five days before departure and must upload the results to the TDF. Authorities require unvaccinated travelers to take another PCR test on arrival at LFW; travelers must pay for the test before departure. Individuals who test positive will be placed under strict quarantine until they test negative.

All departing travelers from Lome must fill out the TDF. Unvaccinated individuals must provide proof of a negative PCR test taken no more than five days before departure. The period may be extended depending on the testing requirement of the country of destination.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity. Health and sanitary checkpoints are also possible on major routes.

Reconfirm all health and travel requirements well before your intended departure date from Togo.
