France: Power failure prompts rail disruptions in central Paris June 5

Power failure at Gare du Nord prompts rail disruptions in Paris, France, June 5; all services via Gare du Nord impacted, including Eurostar.

Warning

Event

A power supply failure at Paris Gare du Nord is disrupting rail services June 5. Rail services are unable to arrive at, depart from, or transit the station. Accordingly, numerous services have been significantly delayed or canceled, including international services Eurostar and Thalys, as well as the long-distance and commuter services TGV, TER, RER, and Transilien. Authorities stated power will be restored by 12:30; however, a TGV train that lost power earlier is currently blocking the line and will have to be repositioned before normal services can resume. Accordingly, disruptions will likely persist after power is restored.

Disruptions may persist beyond these times should repair works take longer than anticipated. Knock-on disruptions are possible to additional parts of the Paris public transport network.

Advice

Check public transport schedules for disruptions before travel and plan alternative routes if necessary June 5. Allow extra time for travel in Paris if planning to use public transport.
