Guyana: Authorities ease pre-travel COVID-19 testing requirements as of July 1 /update 34

Event

As of July 1, authorities in Guyana no longer require arrivals to undergo pre-travel COVID-19 testing. However, most travelers must still present proof of being fully vaccinated.

Domestic Measures
All pandemic-related domestic restrictions have been lifted.

International Travel Restrictions
Persons entering Guyana must present proof of being fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to travel. The accepted vaccines include Sinovac, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca. Travelers who are not fully vaccinated will only be allowed to enter if they present proof of having recovered from COVID-19 within the last year and a doctor's letter of exemption stating a reason for not being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Travelers who are not fully vaccinated must also present a negative result from a PCR or antigen COVID-19 test, taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. All arrivals are subject to additional health screenings at the airport, including temperature checks and COVID-19 testing.

Except for flights to and from Brazil, international commercial flight operations are active at Cheddi Jagan International (GEO) and Eugene F. Correia International (OGL) airports. The Guyana-Suriname ferry service at the Moleson Creek Crossing is operating. The Lethem crossing is open on weekdays.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on COVID-19 activity over the coming weeks. In response to increased disease activity, authorities could impose highly targeted localized measures in some communities.
