Officials imposing tighter COVID-19 measures in multiple cities across Henan Province, China, as of July 14.

Warning

Event

Officials are implementing tighter COVID-19 measures in several cities across Henan Province as of July 14 due to COVID-19 activity. Authorities have imposed three-day lockdown measures in Pingdingshan, Wugang, and Zhumadian over the past week. Residents in lockdown areas must stay at home and only essential vehicles are allowed on roads. Authorities likely require nonessential businesses to close. Mass testing exercises continue to take place in most cities in Henan Province, including Zhengzhou.

Authorities are implementing localized stay-home measures in other parts of Henan Province. As of July 14, there are at least 15 medium- and high-risk areas located in Zhengdong New District and High-Tech Zone in Zhengzhou, as well as Biyang and Zhenping counties. Residents and individuals with recent exposure to these areas must remain in their homes; exceptions may be possible for emergencies and essential reasons. Officials restrict travel to and from the affected communities. Authorities typically maintain measures until two weeks after the latest confirmed community case and will probably carry out several rounds of testing before easing restrictions.

Additional measures are likely if there are new COVID-19 cases. Strict controls, such as stay-at-home orders, may occur in other areas of Henan Province in the coming days. Production and supply chain disruptions are likely in areas affected by COVID-19 exit and entry controls.

Advice

Strictly heed the instructions of authorities. Avoid all nonessential operations in areas impacted by travel controls. Confirm appointments. Remain cooperative if approached and questioned by law enforcement officers.
