Authorities in Hainan Province will implement eased COVID-19 curbs in Haikou from July 22. Officials had previously imposed tighter controls in the city since July 10 due to COVID-19 activity. Bus services, including some inter-city lines, will resume. Officials have downgraded the last remaining high- and medium-risk areas in Haikou. Authorities will gradually lift localized measures such as stay-at-home orders, and nonessential business closures in the affected locations. Movement controls could recur or occur in communities if new COVID-19 cases emerge. Strict measures typically last at least seven to 14 days from the date of the most recent confirmed community case.

Lingering business and transport disruptions are possible as businesses gradually reopen in the affected areas of Haikou. Other provincial and municipal governments will likely withdraw COVID-19 testing and/or quarantine rules for those with recent travel history to the affected areas of Haikou.

Strictly heed the instructions of authorities. Avoid all nonessential operations in areas impacted by travel controls. Confirm appointments. Remain cooperative if approached and questioned by law enforcement officers.
