Informational

Event

Increased security is likely in parts of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu July 28-29 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the two states. On July 28, Modi will inaugurate several Sabar Dairy plant projects at Gadhoda Chowki in Gujarat State's Sabarkantha District. The same evening, the prime minister will travel to Chennai in Tamil Nadu State to open the 44th Chess Olympiad tournament at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. The next day, he will address the 42nd Convocation of Anna University before returning to Gujarat to inaugurate a development project in the Gandhinagar District.

The prime minister will likely arrive at and depart from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD) in Gujarat and Chennai International Airport (MAA) in Tamil Nadu. Security will be tight at both airports during the prime minister's arrivals and departures, as well as near venues for the events he will attend. Police could implement road closures and temporary checkpoints to facilitate the movement of Modi's motorcade, causing possible localized transport disruptions. Localized business disruptions are also possible.

Advice

Plan for security-related travel disruptions at AMD, MAA, and near event venues during the prime minister's visit. Confirm business appointments, road status, and transport reservations through the evening of July 29. Carry proper identification documents. Heed all instructions from security personnel.
