Lebanon: Protest ongoing in Beirut Aug. 7

Activists are protesting near the Jamal Abdel Nasser Mosque in the Al Mazraa Corniche area of Beirut Aug. 7 to denounce declining socio-economic conditions. Protesters have blocked traffic along the Saeb Salam road with containers and burning debris.

Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest site. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or if they ignore police orders to disperse.
