Flight disruptions are occurring at Santa Cruz Islands Airport (SCZ), near Lata, and Lomlom Airport (LLM) in Temotu Province as of Aug. 24. Solomon Airlines (IE) has suspended flights to SCZ indefinitely due to poor runway conditions. Meanwhile, fuel shortages are prompting flight delays and/or cancellations at LLM. Officials have not indicated when normal operations at LLM will resume.
Increased demand for alternative passenger and cargo transport to the Santa Cruz and Reef Islands is possible.
