Further protests likely in several areas of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Aug. 29-30. Disruptions likely.

Further protests are likely to occur in Port-au-Prince Aug. 29-30. Reports indicate that demonstrators have set up roadblocks and burned tires in the downtown area and in Delmas and Petionville municipalities. Barricades have been reported along Carrefour de L'Aeroport (Airport Crossroad), Delmas roads 30, 40, and 64, and the intersection of Rue Darguin and Rue Geffrard in Tabarre. Activists are protesting crime and high fuel prices, among other issues.
Significant transport and business disruptions are likely throughout Port-au-Prince as the protest activity continues. Clashes and acts of violence have occurred during similar protests in past months and cannot be ruled out.
