A magnitude-5.6 earthquake occurred in southeastern Taiwan at around 13:19 Sept. 18. The epicenter was about 83 km (52 miles) east of Yujing. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and light-to-moderate shaking was probably felt throughout parts of southern and central Taiwan.
