India: Indian National Congress party plans march in Telangana State Oct. 23-Nov. 7

The Indian National Congress (INC) party will hold a march in parts of Telangana State, Oct. 23-Nov. 7 as part of its nationwide "Bharat Jodo Yatra" event. The convoy will enter the state at Narayanpet District from Karnataka State Oct. 23. Scheduled rallies are as follows.

  • Mahubnagar District: Events will occur 19:00 at Gunmukla Village Cross Oct. 27, Manyamkunda Temple Oct. 28, Jadcherla junction Oct. 29, and Annanaram Gate Oct. 30.

  • Rangareddy District: Rallies will happen 19:00 in Pedda Shappur Village Oct. 31

  • Hyderabad District: Planned events will occur 19:00 Nov. 1 in Charminar and near the Indira Gandhi statue along Necklace Road. The convoy will pass Balanagar and Madinaguda areas Nov. 2 before stopping for a rally in Muthangi, 19:00.

  • Sangareddy District: Participants will cross Rudraram and Hanuman Nagar areas en route to a public address at the Ramalayam Arch in Sivampet Village, 19:00 Nov. 3.

  • Medak District: Rallies to occur 19:00 in Peddapur Nov. 5, and Mahadevpally Nov. 6.

  • Kamareddy District: Event planned at Mirzapur Hanuman temple in Jukkal, 19:00.

Other stops in nearby district headquarters are possible; the march will occur 07:00-11:00 and 16:00-19:00 daily. Organizers will continue the march across multiple regions of India through the end of 2022 to denounce the policies of the central government under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Hundreds of supporters will participate; the demonstration is unlikely to cause violence. Schedule changes are possible at short notice.

Security deployment is likely. Skirmishes are possible if police attempt to forcibly disperse disruptive crowds. Localized transport disruptions are possible, especially near rally venues.

Context

The "Bharat Jodo Yatra" march by the INC began Sept. 7. The route covers Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh states followed by Delhi, Punjab State, and Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. The event will conclude in Srinagar, Kashmir. Organizers claim around 300 people will be part of the convoy at any time. Events are likely to pass peacefully.

Avoid protests and navigating roadblocks as a standard security precaution. Allow additional travel time near rallies. Monitor official announcements on additional public gatherings, and any road closures. Heed all security and traffic advisories.
