Unionized public nurses to continue daily 09:00-11:00 work stoppage in Delhi, India, through Nov. 4. Protests, disruptions possible.

Warning

Event

Unionized public nurses affiliated with the Delhi Nurses Foundation (DNF) will continue their daily 09:00-11:00 work stoppage in Delhi through Nov. 4 to demand better working conditions and the regularization of some nursing contracts, among other things. Thousands of nurses are reportedly participating in the action. While minor public health service disruptions may occur, organizers claim emergency services in public health facilities will not be impacted.

Strike participants may hold demonstrations during the labor action period. Typical protest venues include public healthcare offices and hospitals, as well as prominent government buildings, monuments, public squares, and thoroughfares. Larger gatherings may be well attended.

Authorities will likely monitor any larger demonstrations and may attempt to disperse especially disruptive gatherings. Isolated skirmishes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out. Activists may march along and/or block roadways, prompting localized transport disruptions.

Advice

Confirm medical appointments at public healthcare facilities through Nov. 4; plan accordingly for medical service delays. Avoid all demonstrations as a standard security precaution. If skirmishes occur nearby, depart the area immediately. Heed the instructions of local security personnel.
