Informational

Event

Various groups have called for protests outside the governor's residence of Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Nov. 8. Unionized journalists will march from the Kanakakunnu Palace to Raj Bhavan from 11:30 to denounce the governor's decision to ban two channels from press conferences. The Indian National Congress (INC) party will also lead a march towards the venue to demand the state government resolve grievances of workers under employment guarantee schemes. A few hundred attendees may join the events.

Police will likely monitor the protest and may try to disperse the gathering if it is especially disruptive. Protesters may clash with security personnel and/or rival party members. The protest and related marches may prompt localized transport disruptions. Traffic restrictions are possible to prevent rallies, especially at Vellayambalam Junction.

Advice
