The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plans to protest across Chhattisgarh State Nov. 9. The purpose of the action is to denounce a recent decrease in the state's jobs reservation quota for members of scheduled tribes. Planned demonstrations will take place outside of several district headquarters in Chhattisgarh. Spontaneous gatherings are also possible near prominent government buildings, public squares, and monuments, as well as along major thoroughfares. The gatherings may be well attended.

Authorities will likely deploy increased security to monitor any larger gatherings. Clashes between security forces and protesters, or between supporters of rival political camps cannot be ruled out. Localized transport and business disruptions are possible.

Avoid the demonstrations as a standard precaution. Depart the area immediately at the first sign of any security disturbance; seek shelter in a secure, nongovernmental building if violence occurs.
