Officials enhancing COVID-19 controls in parts of Guangzhou, China, as of Nov. 10. Localized disruptions occurring.
Event
Authorities continue enhancing restrictions in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, as of Nov. 10 amid rising COVID-19 activity. The government has expanded stay-at-home orders; the measure is in effect for Haizhu, Liwan, and Panyu districts. Residents throughout the affected districts must remain at home except to attend routine COVID-19 testing or receive other medical care. One person per household can leave home daily to purchase essential goods. Although measures in Haizhu and Panyu are slated to continue through Nov. 11 and Nov. 13, respectively, officials will probably extend controls further if case counts continue to rise.
Authorities are designating several locations, especially in Baiyun, Haizhu, Liwan, and Panyu districts, as high or medium risk. Residents in high-risk locations must remain at home; exceptions may be possible for emergencies and essential reasons. Individuals in medium-risk areas cannot leave their communities except to purchase essential goods at specified times. Officials restrict travel to and from the affected communities. Authorities maintain measures for three days after the latest confirmed community case and continue testing before easing restrictions. Officials have halted dine-in services, closed entertainment facilities, and suspended nonessential business operations in parts of affected districts. The government has also ordered mass testing in nine districts. Officials have also canceled in-person classes for primary and middle school students and at educational training centers in eight districts.
Transport services remain suspended in affected districts and high- and medium-risk areas; officials have closed more than 40 metro stations and altered bus routes to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All private vehicles are banned from the streets in Panyu District through at least Nov. 13. Lockdown measures could impact industrial zones, potentially leading to production delays and supply chain disruptions.
Advice
