Jersey police continue their response to an earlier explosion on Pier Road in St. Helier Dec. 10. The blast occurred around 04:00 inside a residential apartment block, Haut du Mont, which subsequently collapsed; officials have extinguished the fire caused by the blast. The incident has killed one person, and wounded two more, while a further 12 people remain missing.

Officials are advising the public to avoid the area surrounding Mount Bingham. Pier Road, Pier Road car park, and South Hill remain cordoned off as police investigate the incident. Heightened security and localized disruptions are likely around the area over the coming hours as the emergency response continues.
