Jordan: Activists and unions to march in Amman, Dec. 15

The Jordanian Federation of Independent Trade Unions plans to march in Amman, Dec. 15. Organizers have announced that participants will gather in front of the National Center for Human Rights at 12:30 and then march toward the Fourth Circle. The purpose of the action is to support the strike of transportation workers that started on Dec. 11; transport workers are protesting against low wages and an increase in gas prices. Hundreds of individuals could attend the Dec. 15 event.

Increased security and localized transport and business disruptions are likely in the affected area Dec. 15. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or ignore police orders to disperse.
