UK: Unionized workers at Highlands and Islands Airports in Scotland striking Dec. 19

Event

Unionized fire and rescue, security, and administration staff associated with Unite the Union and employed by Highland and Island Airports are striking Dec. 19 in a dispute over pay. A second strike is scheduled for Dec. 22.

The action has led to the closure of Barra (BRR), Benbecula (BEB), and Sumburgh (LSI) airports; Stornoway Airport (SYY) will only operate 13:00-19:45 while Kirkwall Airport (KOI) will operate 07:15-13:00. Other facilities operated by Highland and Island Airports are unaffected.
