Tunisia: Landfill workers to strike Feb. 7, 8, and 9

Landfill workers in Tunisia have announced plans for a nationwide strike, Feb. 7-9. The three-day labor action is in response to an ongoing wage dispute between the workers and authorities. While organizers of the work stoppage have not announced plans for protests, pickets and demonstrations are possible outside the Ministry of Social Affairs and near municipalities across the country.

Unless averted, the strike could result in refuse accumulations, which could pose health concerns. Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely if associated protests materialize.
