Foggy conditions in Wellington are causing flight cancelations and delays at Wellington International Airport (WLG) as of the afternoon of Jan. 31. Authorities have canceled at least 37 flight arrivals and departures. Delays are also possible at Wellington's harbor ferries due to low visibility.

While airport officials predicted that fog would dissipate late morning, foggy conditions remain at the airport as of the afternoon Jan. 31. The New Zealand meteorological service stated that the fog could lift in the early evening of Jan. 31 as north-easterly winds strengthen. Lingering disruptions could occur through Jan. 31, even after the fog lifts as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.
