Indonesia: Protest ongoing outside the State Electricity Company headquarters in Jakarta afternoon Feb. 2

Workers from the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI) and Federation of Indonesian Metal Workers Union (FSPMI) are protesting outside the State Electricity Company (PLN) headquarters in Jakarta afternoon Feb. 2. Participants are denouncing alleged wage reductions, changes in employment status, and work accidents, among others. Dozens of people are participating in the demonstration.

Security personnel are monitoring the protest and may try to disperse the gathering if it is especially disruptive. Security measures, including roadblocks and cordons, are possible at PLN headquarters and surrounding areas Feb. 2. Localized traffic and business disruptions may occur during the action, especially if activists occupy nearby roads. Clashes may occur if officials forcibly disperse the demonstrators.
