Informational

Event

Environmental activists affiliated with the Extinction Rebellion (XR) movement have planned two rallies at the Magistrates Court in Adelaide, South Australia, starting at 10:00 and 11:30 Feb. 15. The purpose of the demonstrations is to denounce the detention of XR activists who were arrested during an October 2022 demonstration at the Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition. Similar previous demonstrations have attracted dozens of participants.

Authorities will likely increase security near the courthouse and may attempt to disperse the gatherings if they are especially disruptive. Localized transport disruptions are possible in the immediate vicinity of the protest site, especially near Victoria Square and King William Street.

Advice
