Political parties to lead rally in support of EU candidacy, on Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi Feb. 24. The demonstration will also denounce the Russian invasion of Ukraine, on its first anniversary. Pro-European opposition parties including Droa, Girchi-More Freedom, and Strategy Builder have also called for the Georgian Dream-led government to reduce its collaboration with Russia. Previous pro-EU rallies have attracted many tens of thousands of attendees.

Authorities will likely deploy additional police to monitor the event. Security measures and associated road closures are likely to cause localized travel disruptions. The demonstration is likely to pass off peacefully however scuffles between police and protesters cannot be ruled out.
