Suriname: Protests to be held nationwide March 24

Activists and opposition figures have called for protests throughout Suriname March 24 in response to what they claim is the poor performance of the government. Protest organizers have not released a list of demonstration locations and have refused to apply for permits, though they have called for protesters in Paramaribo to gather at Independence Square (Onafhankelijksplein) beginning at 10:00. Protest leaders have also called upon businesses to close throughout March 24 in solidary with the demonstrations.
