India: Flight operations remain suspended in Srinagar December 9

Heavy fog causes flight operations to remain suspended for a third consecutive day in Srinagar (Kashmir) on December 9; residual flight disruptions expected

Warning

Event

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) suspended flight operations at Srinagar’s Sheikh Ul-Alam International Airport (SXR) on Monday, December 9, for a third consecutive day due to poor weather conditions. Heavy fog across the Kashmir Valley caused very poor visibility, forcing all 26 scheduled flights to be canceled. Since Saturday, December 7, around 60 flights have been canceled due to winter weather conditions. Residual flight disruptions are anticipated over the coming days.

Advice

Potentially impacted travelers are advised to monitor local weather reports, confirm flight reservations, and maintain a flexible itinerary.
