Meteo France issued a red weather warning (the highest on a four-tier scale) at 04:30 (local time) on Saturday, December 14, for the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department. It forecasts heavy rain and flooding to impact the southwestern department until at least 16:00 on Saturday. The French meteorology agency has also issued orange weather warnings (second-highest on a four-tier scale) in 19 departments across southwestern, northern, and eastern mainland France forecasting wind, heavy rain, and flooding. It has also warned of avalanches in three departments in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and violent winds in Corsica.

Related transportation disruptions, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages are possible over the coming hours.
