The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended the Tornado Warning for parts of Leon County, in northern Florida, until at least 1300 EST Jan. 27. The warning covers areas outside of Tallahassee, including Greenville. The weather warnings could be extended or expanded at short notice.

Reports indicate several damages in and around the city of Tallahassee due to the passage of the storm. The Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) has been temporarily closed to assess damages. Authorities will continue assessing damages and aid in rescue efforts as needed. There have been no reports of injuries or fatalities, due to the tornado at this time. Severe weather is likely to continue impacting the area in the coming hours, Jan. 27.

Seek shelter immediately in areas covered by the warning. Be prepared to quickly move to a safe location if new warnings are issued. Postpone driving until weather conditions improve. Charge battery-powered devices in case prolonged electricity outages occur. Monitor local media for updated emergency and weather information.
