The Pitcairn Islands group is a British Overseas Territory, comprising the islands of Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno. Pitcairn is the only inhabited island, with fewer than 50 permanent inhabitants. Security threats are low, while infrastructure is limited.
Security
The Pitcairn Islands experiences a low crime and minimal civil unrest risk threat environment. Kidnapping, piracy, terrorism, and armed conflict are not of significant concern. Infrastructure
Most roads on the Pitcairn Islands are unpaved. There is no public transport. Transport around the island is by quad bike or on foot. There is no access to the island by air, and the ship to the island is difficult in poor weather. Mobile phone coverage is limited to 4G LTE connections and local calls. International calls can be made through internet and mobile applications. Satellite phones are available. Homes and hotels have high speed internet. Electricity is provided by the Adamstown Grid that runs on diesel generators 06:00-10:00 daily. Renewable energy projects mainly focus on solar energy to power homes and government buildings. Supply issues are possible due to increasing demand.
Health and Medical
Disease and health risks are low, with healthcare in the Pitcairn Islands sufficiently addressing general patient needs, including specialized services. Health insurance is recommended for extended stays. Tap water is unsafe to drink, use only bottled or boiled water.
