Italy: Demonstration planned in Milan January 25

Demonstration to take place in Milan January 25; heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions expected

The trade union Confederazione Generale Italiana Lavoratori has called for a demonstration to take place in Milan on Saturday, January 25, to denounce war in the Middle East following recent tensions between the US and Iran. According to US diplomatic sources, demonstrators will gather at Piazza del Duomo to hold a sit-in from 15:00 to 18:00 (local time); 500 to 1000 people are expected to participate.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions, such as road closures, are expected in the vicinity of Piazza del Duomo during the demonstration.
