Warning

Event

Clashes were reported between Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces in the village of Beit Ummar (West Bank), north of Hebron, on Tuesday, December 1, following an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) raid on a house. Soldiers detained the members of the family and climbed onto the roof of the house, prompting protesters to arrive at the scene. After the protesters threw rocks at the IDF vehicles, soldiers used live fire and tear gas to disperse the crowd, reportedly causing several injuries due to teargas inhalation.

Further clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian protesters are to be expected throughout the West Bank. Additional security operations in the vicinity of Beit Ummar cannot be ruled out over the short term in response to the clashes.

Advice

Those in the West Bank are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate a heightened security presence, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
