At least 1617 people have been displaced after a fire swept through the Lalamaty area of Antananarivo on the morning of Wednesday, June 24. Up to 300 properties, mostly wooden houses, were destroyed in the fire, which broke out in one of the capital's most impoverished suburbs. However, there were no reports of any fatalities. The displaced families have been moved to temporary tented accommodation in nearby parks and sports fields, but it is unclear when they will be able to return to the fire-damaged area.

Residual localized disruptions are likely in the area in the medium term as recovery efforts continue.
