Israel/Palestinian Terr.: Gunman wounds seven near Ofra (West Bank) Dec. 9

Suspected Palestinian gunman wounds seven near Ofra (West Bank) December 9

A suspected Palestinian gunman wounded seven Israelis in a drive-by shooting incident near Ofra (West Bank) on Sunday, December 9. The car carrying the gunman reportedly fled the scene following the attack and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched a search for the vehicle. IDF operations are possible in the vicinity in the near term.

Palestinian attacks targeting Israelis are not uncommon in the West Bank. Notably, on November 26, a Palestinian man was shot dead after ramming his vehicle into a group of soldiers near Gush Etzion, wounding at least three members of the IDF.

Individuals present in Israel and the Palestinian Territories are advised to monitor developments to the situation. Due to the underlying terrorist threat, travelers in Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip are advised to report any suspicious objects or behavior to the authorities. Some Western governments advise their citizens against all travel to the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and areas near the Israeli-Lebanese, Israeli-Syrian, and Israeli-Egyptian borders.
