Leaders of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a rally in the capital Dhaka on Sunday, November 24, to demand the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. The rally, initially scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 23, was postponed as the BNP only received governmental permission in the morning (local time) of Sunday. The BNP announced they will not seek government permission to hold further rallies, as such rallies may take place on short notice, possibly resulting in clashes between security forces and protesters.
