Indonesia: Flash floods in west Indonesia cause ten deaths

As of Sunday, April 30, recent flash floods in Central Java, western Indonesia, have resulted in the deaths of at least ten people, with two people still missing; four more have been reported injured. Approximately 170 people have been displaced by the floods and 71 homes destroyed.

Heavy downpours triggered the disaster in five villages in the Magelang district. Transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in affected areas.

Advice

Individuals present in affected areas are advised to follow weather reports, to be prepared for transportation disruptions, and to adhere to any orders issued by the local authorities. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
