Two soldiers were killed and three others injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near town of Moreh in Manipur state's Chandel district on Monday, May 8. Territorial Army soldiers were conducting a military operation in the area, located near the border with Myanmar, and were about to reach the Lokchao camp when the blast occurred. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Context

Some insurgent groups are based in Myanmar near the border with India, and retreat to their camps in Myanmar after carrying out attacks against Indian forces.
